National Resource Center for Youth Services: Resource Family Training & Support

NRCYS

Support Groups for Region 2

Support Network Groups are designed to assist resource parents with in-service training, community resource information, peer support, and communication with DHS. Attending on a regular basis is not only a great way to get the emotional and practical support you need to succeed, it's a great way to stay on top of the training requirements you need to fulfill. Some groups serve dinner or snacks; all provide child care with your RSVP. Please contact the facilitator to find out about the topic or confirm your attendance.

Garvin and McClain In-Person Support Group Meeting

May 17, 2025

Compassion Church
113 West McClure Avenue
Pauls Valley, OK 73075

May meeting topic:

The Brain Talks

Join us for an engaging and accessible session that introduces the basics of neuroscience to help caregivers better understand children’s challenging behaviors — and their own emotional reactions. Discover how the brain responds to stress, emotions, and connection, and walk away with practical tools and insights to support more compassionate, informed, and calm caregiving. This training is designed for all caregivers, no matter your background or experience.

Speaker: Autumn Cooper, Oklahoma State Department of Health

Training Credit: Parents in attendance will earn 2 hours of in-service training credit toward your annual 12-hour requirement. Come connect and learn with other kinship, foster, and adoptive families in Garvin, McClain, and surrounding counties.

Childcare is available with a reservation as well as a light meal. RSVP by contacting Tara Brown at tara_b_brown@hotmail.com or by phone at (405) 251-0084 by noon on Thursday, May 15, 2025, so that we can prepare for you.
