Youth can sometimes challenge the best in us. Youth in general are dealing with many physical, mental, emotional, and social changes. Youth who have experienced trauma can feel confusion, anger, grief, mistrust, lack of confidence or sense of self, and/or a lack of safety along with these normal developmental changes. The way youth express their needs, emotions, and desires can, at times, push away the adults doing their best to provide care and guidance. This workshop will show how motivational interviewing skills and techniques can be utilized by anyone (resource parents, caseworkers, youth care workers, and others) to help youth in their growth and development and reduce discord in their relationships.
