Managing Aggressive Behavior (MAB) utilizes a holistic approach to crisis management for residential care. Effective behavior support goes beyond passive physical restraint or strict behavior modification. This comprehensive course will take you through MAB Foundations, as well as Prevention, Intervention, and Postintervention strategies.

During this workshop, participants will learn...

  • Techniques for fostering an environment in which crisis is less likely to occur
  • The Aikido philosophy of blending or harmonizing with individuals behaving aggressively
  • The Crisis WAVE model of behavioral escalation
  • Effective responses to match each stage of the Crisis WAVE

Experience in working directly with children, youth, and families, either currently or in the past, is highly recommended.

Being athletic is not required; however, some agility is necessary. Persons with serious physical limitations should contact NRCYS directly if they have special training needs or concerns. Participants should dress in casual clothing including athletic-type shoes.
