Here’s What’s Happening at the 2009 Invitational State Independent Living Coordinator’s Forum

This invitation-only, one day event will provide the opportunity for State Independent Living Coordinators to come together to network and share recent activities in their states. This event will focus on the Children's Bureau's priorities for the effective implementation on the John H. Chafee Foster Care Independence Program and the Education and Training Voucher Program with emphasis on:

•The National Youth in Transition Database (NYTD)

• Fostering Connections to Success Act

• Education Initiatives

• Independent Living and Transitional Living Program Collaboration Efforts

Federal representatives and representatives from other national organizations will be in attendance to update coordinators on new activities and resources that impact the John H. Chafee Foster Care Independence Program. Information sharing will focus on:

• Next steps for NYTD implementation

• Strategies and resources for tracking current and former foster youth

• The effect of NYTD practice

• Strategies for effective ILP/TLP collaboration
