William M. Powers, MHA, MPA
Chief Executive Officer
Bonnie Brae
Liberty, NJ
The Bonnie Brae Knights

William M. Powers is presently Chief Executive Officer of Bonnie Brae Residential Treatment Center, Liberty Corner, New Jersey. As such, Mr. Powers is responsible for executive leadership of a boy's residential treatment center with 97 residents, 10 day treatment students, 200 staff and a $19 million budget. In 2008, Mr. Powers petitioned President Barack Obama's Inaugural staff on behalf of the Bonnie Brae Knights (Drum Corps made up of residents of the treatment program) for an invitation to march in the inaugural parade. As a result, the Bonnie Brae Knights were invited and did in fact march in the historic inaugural parade. Mr. Powers has a wonderful and engaging story of how this whole opportunity was born, pursued, and accomplished.

While at Bonnie Brae, Mr. Powers achieved 90% of measurable goals in a three year strategic plan, grew the agency from 52 residents to 97 residents, and increased the annual budget from $8.6 million to $19.3 million. He produced the first National Conference on Residential Treatment Outcomes with a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Grant, and gained Bonnie Brae national recognition for innovative strengths-based programming such as the Bonnie Brae Youth Ambassadors and the Bonnie Brae Knight Drum Corps (as a result, incidents and restraints decreased while population increased.)

Prior to his present position with Bonnie Brae, Mr. Powers has served as the Executive Director of the Christie School in Marylhurst, Oregon; The Vice-President of Programs for Kidspeace, Inc., of Orefield, Pennsylvania; and Deputy Director & Acting Director of the Division of Child Mental Health Services for the State of Delaware.
